Woven by hand in Kenya using hand-split and hand-twisted baobab string. Modern, beautifully designed, and very durable. Our customer wanted a similar bag to her current worn-out 50-year old bag from Kenya which she wanted to replace. Yes, these bags are that durable, just ask Moira!

With the help of our artisans, we were able to find a fellow maker who handmade this all natural beauty! The power of #thesmallbusinesscommunity globally!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
---------------------------
To reform any ""dents"" in your bag, moisten (in the shower for a moment, or dipped in water) and then reshape & dry.

History of the Kiondo:(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiondo)
A kiondo is a handwoven handbag made from baobab with leather trimmings. Woven mostly by women and mothers, they begin by stripping the baobab plant's outer layers, leaving the plant still able to grow. The weaver uses threads from the pale coloured layers, that have dried out for a day, to make a bag. A design pattern is finalized. The weaver then boils the threads in water and dye sets the bag's colours.
It takes between two to three weeks to complete a basket depending on the size. Most weavers have to look after their households; therefore, weaving is done whenever they have the time.

Please note that colours may vary slightly due to the colour display settings of your screen and photography lighting.

All designs are copyright and exclusive to Rangi Saba Designs.
